A couple of weeks ago, I asked readers to send in their Ouija board stories in order to determine if the number of Ouija board experiences were negative or not. I have some I’d like to share now, for all of you out there. So without further ado, here are some of your stories.
Bill writes: “One time, a friend and I were at my house talking to the board. I don’t know how the subject came up, but the board told us that a couple hundred yards behind my house there were pine trees, and between two pine trees, we would find two dollars. So, we went back there to check, and sure enough there were two dollars just laying there. He kept one, and I kept one.
For the record, neither one of us could have planted the money there without the other knowing about it, and we didn’t really have other friends to get them to do it for us. Also, neither one of us could afford to give a buck to the other, not even as a prank.
Theres no LOGICAL way to explain this experience.”

Stephanie writes: “I had an experience when I was a teenager that, at the time, freaked me out, because this was my first real taste of anything paranormal, other than certain dreams.
I bought my board at a garage sale, which was probably a bad idea; I remember the mother turning to the daughter (she was in her late teens/early 20s) and saying something along the lines of "Finally getting rid of that thing, huh?” The daughter looked to see what I had in my hands and she nodded, her eyes getting kind of wide and freaked out and she darted into the house. Of course at 14 I was like “COOL!”
At first when we (my best friend and I) started using it, not much of note happened, just silliness, like who we had crushes on, what boys like us, that sort of nonsense that young teens do. We used it all the time, it was fun but we didn’t fully believe anything was really happening, though we had one spirit that seemed to be attracted to us, for the life of me I can’t remember the name he gave us (this was close to 20 years ago now.) He claimed to be a good spirit and we had no reason not to believe him, we didn’t even fully believe anything was happening. I’m not sure if she ever pushed the planchette, I know I never did and I think that she didn’t, I would look at her hands and see how she was barely touching it too.
Then of course something did happen. I used to have this ‘cabin’ that my stepdad built for me, basically the top part of the garage where we’d climb up a ladder built on the wall. One day a guy friend of mine was over and the three of us were using it and the spirit did not like him one bit. Every time he would touch the planchette, it would fly off the board. It was almost attacking him, he would put his hands near the board and the planchette would do a beeline for his hand and hit it. It actually moved so fast that it left our fingertips and landed on his lap. I yelled at it to stop, angry, defending my friend I guess, called it names, being a typical teen.
We were sort of laughing it off nervously, when my aunt stopped by. She wasn’t due for a visit and I was curious as to why she was there, so asked what she came for. It spelled out ‘bathing suit.’ I went downstairs to find out and sure enough, she was there to pick up my cousin’s bathing suit that I had no idea was left at our house. You can imagine our reaction to that when I told my friends.
A few minutes later I went to climb down again, but this time I felt a force, or something, pushing down on my shoulders. My feet couldn’t find the ladder rung (even though it was right there) and it really felt like something was trying to push me down, I couldn’t speak and ask for help, I really felt like I was fighting to keep myself from being forced to fall 10 or 12 feet to the concrete below. Finally it stopped and I climbed back up, totally shaken, scared, you can imagine how a 14 year old girl would be very freaked out by this. My friends too. We decided we had had enough of the Ouija board.
That was the last time I used a Ouija board and my friend who used it with me the most refused to touch it after that. At first I kept it in my closet, but swear I felt something in there, so it moved to the garage, but that wasn’t enough, so it went to the backyard and finally the garbage bin.”

Nixxi writes: “Myself and my sister made a board using a glass and card words and letters whilst in out youth to see if any messages would turn up when asked questions, nothing happened at all, not even slight movement.
Our house had alot of activity, I had an experience or two myself, smelling perfume and such, pictures falling over, so we were not certain why nothing had come through on the board, we decided for a second time to try again, still nothing happened. We eventually gave up.
I think that for any kind of message to come through, a spirit has to want to communicate and also have the energy to do so. My opinion is that if a message does come through it is a powerful, energy filled being and whatever is that strong can never be good.
I would try using a board again, but only if I had protection and the sitting was performed properly and closed down correctly.”

Bill writes: “Back when I was about 12 or 13, I had a friend who pretty much lived at my house and vice-versa. We were inseparable at the time. Anyway, neither he nor I had two nickels to rub together, so we needed to discover a way to have easy and inexpensive fun. For a while, we had ourselves hooked on ‘playing around’ with the Ouija board.
He and I decide to try the thing in a local cemetery. We get there and sit down under a tree and get the pointer moving. We quickly make contact with someone who called themselves B. Kerr. We sat there, and asked the normal stupid questions for a while, and finally asked it if it’s remains could be found in that particular cemetery. This thing told me to look behind me and to the left, and there would be a large tree next to a smaller bush. Of course, when I turned around to look, that’s exactly what I saw.
We stopped, and went over to the tree. Right between the tree and the bush there was a gravestone. The name on it was William Kerr. That day proved to me that the board was real.”

MosDefinite writes: “My grandmother had my mother at the age of 17, and moved in with my grandfather into a house in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. About a year had gone by, and my grandmother had purchased a Ouija board. She had a couple friends over, along with her 2 older siblings, and they were experimenting with it in attempt to communicate with any potential spirits. In the corner of the room they were in, was an old sword owned by my grandfather. After the group had asked for the entity to show a sign of its presence, the sword lifted itself into the air, and flew across the room, sticking into the wall. After that day, the house just didn't feel right. My grandfather started experiencing all sorts of psychological issues, causing my grandparents to split up. I've still never met him, nor do I even know his name. My grandmother moved out with my mother, and ceased all contact with him.
As we recently discovered about a week ago actually...my grandmother had her first class to obtain her master in reiki, (one more and she will have her master.) and she met a woman there who she was talking to, and she had mention that she was living in a house in Old Saybrook, that was a bit run down, but it was ok living in, except for one room. It was discovered, as I'm sure you have figured out, that she indeed lived in the same house my grandmother used to. It also turns out the the room she described was the room in which they used the Ouija board, and the sword is still in the house, perched in the corner. A moment of synchronicity here...I thought it was interesting.
But my conclusion of this story...
My grandmother and her siblings alike (all still living) validate the story anytime it is told. Her brother is the skeptic type, but he doesn't hesitate to ask you to stop when you ask him about the story. It's uncomfortable for him. My grandmother and her sister alike are very open minded people. Therefore a story like this from them is not uncommon.”

One of our members who has been working with EVP for a long time now wrote me about her EVP sessions. She is also a bit psychic and is very open to communicating with the other side. Here is her take: “I have had experiences where I've opened up communications with spirits that linger after they start talking to me on EVP. I have one guy who, when I put the recorder out in my apartment when I'm not there, will come to talk to me when I invite him to and he will call me by name and ask if I can hear him now.... and he is the one who awakens me at night whispering directly in my ear, three times in the past 6 months. Initial contact with him was about a year ago. The first time he woke me he whispered real loud in my ear "I want to come, too!" when I was dozing in bed. The second time was him clearing his throat; the third time, about 3 weeks ago, was him saying "that's the girl over there". I do not know if he meant me or someone else.
I have kicked him out of my bedroom about three times so far; he is allowed to talk to me when I ask him to and set out the recorder, I don't want him waking me up but evidently he doesn't follow rules well...lol. And I sense a female there lately who is persistent; she wants to tell me something but doesn't know how.
There is also a child who comes back again and again to visit me and talk on my recorder. And a woman. I get no names, they appear to pass through then they go away again for awhile.
I had stuff starting to disappear in my apartment and move around, too, once I started actually going out to record EVP in cemeteries and in public places. I did a smudging in my apartment back then and since then that activity has diminished considerably.”
