Local residents can get their creepy Peterborough Lift Lock fix later this month.
The Creepy Canada episode that features the historic Lift Lock airs on the Outdoor Life Network May 12, 13 and 14.
A Creepy Canada crew filmed the segment last September. Paranormal researchers toured the lift lock with cameras rolling and pointed out areas of energy left behind by the dead. Local archivist Diane Robnik, with Trent Valley Archives, was interviewed for the segment.
The teaser on the Creepy Canada web site reads as follow:
"The giant pylons of the lift lock in Peterborough have been the scene of many tragedies and a myriad of ghosts are said to haunt its labyrinth of underground tunnels. Could the plague of accidents, suicides and unexplained events stem from the dying curse of an innocent woman burnt as a witch in the 1840s?"
The lift lock story isn't the only chilling tale to be exposed on the upcoming episode. It also features Nancy, Queen of the Dead in Trinity, Newfoundland; the Hopkinsville aliens in Kentucky; and the Viking ghost boat in Newfoundland.
The episode airs on OLN May 12, 9 p.m.; May 13, midnight and 4 p.m.; and May 14, 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, Trent Valley Archives' Eerie Ashburnham Ghost Walk event begin May 13 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and space is limited. Call 745-4404.
