THOSE who hear things going bump in the night can now call on a new team of ghostbusters.
Well-known Corby medium Dennis Binks has joined forces with three psychics from his spiritual circle to set up Corby Ghostbusters ? the town's first paranormal investigation team.
A quick call to Mr Binks and his team will soon see them at the front door with torches, walkie talkies, EMF sensors and recording equipment to enable them to track down the spirit before they ask it to leave.
The group was formed after Mr Binks got through to the finals of Channel 5 programme Britain's Psychic Challenge.
Mr Binks, 57, of Lapland Walk, Corby, said: "Since the TV programme I have been inundated with phone calls from people who have paranormal activity in their homes.
"I set up the team because it is never wise to go to someone's home on your own when you are trying this kind of activity. And we all have different abilities so what one misses, another one will pick up. The reason we want to do this is to help people who may be frightened.
"We are not doing it for our own gain. All we ask for is a cup of tea and some chocolate digestives."
Since forming, the team has already been into a number of haunted homes after calls from distraught residents upset about unexplained phenomena.
The latest call was from a family who had strange happenings in their bathroom, with plugs being thrown into the bath before someone or something filled the tub with water.
Mr Binks said spirits in all three homes have disappeared since their visit.
Computer programmer Ryan Critchley, 29, of Kettering ? who makes up the team along with Mr Binks and Elaine Bryden, 52, of Corby, and Tracey Speechley, 38, of Stamford Road, Kettering ? became involved with Corby Ghostbusters because he was keen to get into the paranormal side of things.
He said: "I got into spiritualism because it was confirming something I already knew. This investigation is the type of field I want to get into because it can prove paranormal goings-on."
Full-time mother Mrs Speechley has been a member of the Spirit of Light circle for two years.
She said: "If this was going on in my house I would want somewhere or someone to go to as I would be scared to death."
